Managing director, React
Career so far
Far too long. Surely it should all be over by now, shouldn't it?
What was your first job and were you any good at it?
My first paid employment was picking potatoes from a field when I was 12. Long days, hard work and very muddy. I'm not sure I'd claim to be any good at it. I certainly didn't make a career out of it anyway.
Who was your top teenage pin-up?
Linda Lusardi.
My colleagues won't know this about me but...
Ha, nice try... no way!
What is your favourite snack?
Eat Natural Bars - the Brasil Nut and Dark Chocolate ones.
What has been your career high point to date?
Thinking I'd sold my company for several million back in 2008 - shame it all fell through really. I could have had a good time spending it.
Has 2013 been good, bad or ugly?
Better than expected - far less stressful than 2012 anyway.
What do you say when asked at a party what you do for a living?
If they look like Linda Lusardi - I either tell them I'm an astronaut about to set off on a one-way mission to Mars, or a scientist that's recently invented black lasers and has worked out how to communicate via shadows.
If I wasn't working in the channel I would probably be... an astronaut about to set off on a one-way mission to Mars, or a scientist that's recently invented black lasers and has worked out how to communicate via shadows.
What will be the channel's biggest challenge in 2014?
Margin retention and customer acquisition - as always.
