Career so far
I’ve worked for Orchard Business Systems, Paxus and Solution 6, followed by the last 22 years as MD at ramsac.
What was your first job and were you any good at it?
A paper boy and yes I was excellent, I’ve always been an extremely early riser and round was usually finished before most were starting.
Who was your top teenage pin-up?
It seems odd now but at the time I had a real thing for Nena (it must have been her 99 Luftballons!)
My colleagues won’t know this about me but....
As a schoolboy I was on World of Sport featuring in the English National Schoolboys Cross Country Championships.
What is your favourite snack?
A banana and some almonds.
What has been your career high point to date?
Celebrating our 20th anniversary was great and I cant wait to see where we’ll be in another 20 years!
Has 2013 been a good, bad or ugly year?
It’s been GREAT! We’ve had good growth, we’ve moved to new headquarters, expanded the team yet further and done some really great client projects at home and internationally.
What do you say when strangers at a social gathering ask what you do for a living?
I say that I make IT simple. If I wasn’t working in the channel I would probably be on the speaker circuit talking about business and leadership.
What do you see as the channel’s biggest challenge in 2014?
Helping staff and clients harness and fully understand Big Data. Businesses are sat on a wealth of client information but they don’t bring together their various data sources in order to fully comprehend their customers needs (recognised or potential).
