Emma de Sousa
VP, managing director, UK&I, Insight
What was the worst job you have ever had?
I worked in Toys "R" Us the Christmas that Buzz Lightyear was launched. Stock was so limited I literally had to break up fights between desperate parents.
Which actor would you pick to play you in a movie of your life? Sandra Bullock. I admire her dedication, passion and versatility, as well as her ability to stay at the top of her game while maintaining an unaffected public persona. My husband said I should put Kathy Bates in Misery.
What do you do as your party trick?
I don't have a party trick as such, but I love to throw a good party.
What is your favourite chocolate bar?
Bounty - the blue one, not the red.
What has been the highlight of your career to date?
Getting my first directorship in 2006.
Has 2014 been a good, bad or ugly year?
It has been phenomenal. We've created a very tight-knit team that's delivering results.
How would you explain the IT channel to a stranger without boring them to death?
The channel takes products and services from leading manufacturers, selling them to a customer in a way that helps them enhance their own business.
Aside from the channel, my dream career would be... exploring the world as a travel writer - more Condé Nast than Hitchhikers Guide though.
What major issues will the channel face in 2015?
Sales readiness. By this I mean ensuring our team is equipped to advise clients on how best to adopt the technologies and consumption methods that are changing the way they run their businesses.
