Steve Holmes
UK channel director, Dell
What was the worst job you have ever had?
Washing dishes in a restaurant. I was pretty bad at it.
Which actor would you pick to play you in a movie of your life?
Owen Wilson. You would need a sense of humour to play me.
What do you do as your party trick?
The beer mat challenge.
What is your favourite chocolate bar?
It has to be a Double Decker.
What has been the highlight of your career to date?
The ability, in my current role, to work hand in hand with such a great set of channel partners.
Has 2014 been a good, bad or ugly year?
It's been a great year with so much opportunity. There's a huge amount of change currently in the channel market and it's so exciting to be at Dell - the only consistent end-to-end force and of course, one to be reckoned with.
How would you explain the IT channel to a stranger without boring them to death?
It's like a recipe. You take leading-edge vendor solutions, provide a great partner wraparound and end up with a delighted end customer... simple.
Aside from the channel, my dream career would be... secret agent.
What major issues will the channel face in 2015?
The lack of credible Tier 1 vendors that can provide the full end-to-end portfolio. From hardware to software, services and even financing, Dell is focused on delivering the full end-to-end portfolio to its partners to enable them to provide a one-stop shop to their customers.
