Bob Dunnett

Managing director, NG Bailey's IT Services division

What was the worst job you have ever had?

It would have to be working in a hand carwash in the winter. I remember the water would splash down your trousers and freeze.

Which actor would you pick to play you in a movie of your life? Bill Nighy because I think he's understated, got a sense of humour and likes blue suits.

What do you do as your party trick?

I like to get a guitar out and have a good old sing song. It's a great atmosphere when you get everyone singing along together.

What is your favourite chocolate bar?

Marks & Spencer's dark chocolate.

What has been the highlight of your career to date?

Getting the IT installation at Heathrow completed successfully and receiving a very complimentary testimonial from the customer.

Has 2014 been a good, bad or ugly year?

It has been a really good year. People are talking about doing new things and there's a real sense of optimism in the air.

How would you explain the IT channel to a stranger without boring them to death? I'd make sure they'd had a couple of glasses of wine or their preferred tipple before we started. Joking aside, I'd be brief and entice questions rather than talk about it too much.

Aside from the channel, my dream career would be... a travel guide. I like history and would enjoy showing people places and sharing my experiences.

What major issues will the channel face in 2015?

It is still very much about making sure that we are tailoring solutions to customers' needs and trying to avoid simply selling the channel commodities. It's about joining things together to create new and better business solutions.
