Brendan Loughrey

Managing director, Redstone and Coms

What was the worst job you have ever had? I've never had a bad job. I've really enjoyed them all, but I believe you get out what you put in.

Which actor would you pick to play you in a movie of your life? Robin Williams. There was not a role that he couldn't own. Stand-up comedy, television and film - he could do it all. I really admire his stand-up routines as he would talk about subjects which at the time were taboo. He has some great quotes, most too rude to include here, but one of my favourites is: "Never pick a fight with an ugly person; they've got nothing to lose."

What do you do as your party trick? Sing. As an ex-choir boy I can't resist the lure of a microphone and a Karaoke machine.

What is your favourite chocolate bar? Bounty - one of my five-a-day.

What has been the highlight of your career to date? There have been many, but becoming MD of Redstone has to top the lot.

Has 2014 been a good, bad or ugly year? Actually, this year has been a mixture of all three. Although the economy is looking brighter and we and other organisations are growing, it's still a tough market out there and we're seeing lots of squeezing of margins and rebidding for contracts.

How would you explain the IT channel to a stranger without boring them to death? I'd tell them to Google it, but that wouldn't help them much. To put it succinctly, it's the gap between the vendor and the end-user.

Aside from the channel, my dream career would be... a kept man, mowing the lawn and playing golf.

What major issues will the channel face in 2015? We'll still see a great deal of pressure on price and the IT skills shortage also looks set to continue.
