Michael Keegan

Chief executive, UK&I, Fujitsu

What was the worst job you have ever had?

I wasted two years of my life on bidding the National ID card programme... not something I want to repeat. A massive waste of the taxpayer's money and my time.

Which actor would you pick to play you in a movie of your life?

Boris Karloff - he spent eight hours a day becoming the monster in the 1930s Universal Frankenstein movies. That's dedication to the role. And his real name was Henry Pratt.

What do you do as your party trick?

Playing guitar with a band. I have always loved playing live.

What is your favourite chocolate bar?

A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play...

What has been the highlight of your career to date?

Winning "The Channel's Got Talent" competition with my band in 2013.

Has 2014 been a good, bad or ugly year?

A great year, because I left our growing technology business in safe hands and took up the role as chief executive of the UK & Ireland region. But as my successor Tom Roche says, it's never good having a boss who knows more about your role than you do.

How would you explain the IT channel to a stranger without boring them to death?

I'd invite them to join me at the Channel Awards in November and let them make their own mind up.

Aside from the channel, my dream career would be... lead guitarist in punk band The Damned.

What major issues will the channel face in 2015?

Our customers need the reassurance of vendors who can help them overcome the challenges associated with digital transformation, cloud integration and the threats posed by increased security risks. At Fujitsu we see this as an opportunity to add genuine value to customer engagements.
