Neil Murphy

Managing director, Bytes Software Services

What was the worst job you have ever had? I remember once running a bovine abattoir in India - that was a low point.

Which actor would you pick to play you in a movie of your life? Probably Kenneth Williams - his macho image will do wonders for my standing within the Womens Institute.

What do you do as your party trick? I give £20 and dance an Irish Jig to anyone who comes up to me and says "hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia" 10 times really fast while drinking a pint of Baileys.

What is your favourite chocolate bar? I am not aware of any bars made out of chocolate although many mahogany bars may look like chocolate, I suppose. Is there a bar in that Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory - perhaps that would be my favourite. Would I be served by an Oompaloompa?

What has been the highlight of your career to date? Learning how to time travel. I did that next week.

Has 2014 been a good, bad or ugly year? It looks better the more I drink.

How would you explain the IT channel to a stranger without boring them to death? It was the 3rd TV channel to come to air after BBC1 and BBC2, and was funded entirely differently via advertising revenue as opposed to the licence fee. (By the way you missed the "V" off in the question but don't worry, I know what you meant.)

Aside from the channel, my dream career would be... a golf caddy for Natalie Gulbis, a striking golfer who grips the shaft perfectly and has the perfect stroke.

What major issues will the channel face in 2015? Further competition from satellite companies and free-to-view organisations such as YouTube, social media development and power cuts. (Why are you so hung up on ITV?)
