James Napp

Managing director, Bechtle

What was the worst job you have ever had? Taking out the bins on Sunday evening! It's a bit of exercise at least.

Which actor would you pick to play you in a movie of your life? Hugh Grant. I get the impression he would make even the bad bits seem good.

What do you do as your party trick? I'm not sure I am cool enough to have a party trick.

What is your favourite chocolate bar? A massive bar of Toblerone.

What has been the highlight of your career to date? Apart from developing a first-rate team in the UK, it has to be successfully launching and developing the Global IT Alliance for the Bechtle Group.

Has 2014 been a good, bad or ugly year? Great. Significant growth, a great, great team with lovely people and a positive vibe.

How would you explain the IT channel to a stranger without boring them to death? Tricky. Something like a dynamic game-changing industry where those with ambition and drive can flourish.

Aside from the channel, my dream career would be... trader/fund manager.

What major issues will the channel face in 2015? The realisation that security in the cloud, the cost of cloud and the stability of cloud providers, are potentially big blockers to cloud growth and full adoption.
