As well as co-founding and heading up Avecto, Paul Kenyon also has six children to contend with

What was your first job, and how did you get into IT?

My brother-in-law ran a bakery and he hired me as a deliveryman. I was 17 at the time and had to wake up at 5am to deliver cakes and bread before I went to college at 9am. It definitely prepared me for working life and early starts.

What would you like to do next summer?

People may dream of relaxing on beaches during the summer, but I love a challenge so I'm planning to cycle the Great Wall of China.

If you were the newest crayon in the box, which colour would you be?

Polka dot.

Tell us about one of the great moments in your life so far

I'm going to combine all my greatest moments into one here - when each of my three children were born, the day my two adopted children came into my life, and the impending birth of my sixth child.

Tea or coffee, and how do you have it?

Latte, always.

If you were the next prime minister, what would you do first?

I would ensure the NHS, HMRC and the police force were all digitalised and connected via one seamless system. It would save billions of pounds for organisations across the country - at the moment, £6bn a year is lost through fraudulent prescriptions alone.

Which four famous people (living or dead) would you like to invite to your next dinner party?

That's a tough one… I'd have to say Einstein, Stephen Fry, Spike Milligan and my mum.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos reportedly once said: "If you can't feed a team with two pizzas, it's too large." Do you think he was right?

It depends how big the pizzas are. There are benefits to small and large teams but internal communication is essential to achieve success. Whether you are challenged with creating a new product, designing a bespoke IT solution for customers or simply planning the Christmas party, communication can help build relationships and galvanise a team to produce the best results - it also helps when ordering more pizza!

What would you do or who would you be if you could be reincarnated?

Just me, with hair!

Google exec on 60 per cent workspace partner margins, besting Microsoft

“I don’t think you could point to another large technology company that’s ever done something like this: 60 per cent margin. And that’s not ‘up to’ 60 per cent, but actually 60 per cent,” Google’s Kevin Ichhpurani tells CRN.
