Stephen Fenby

Managing director, Midwich

What achievement are you most proud of?

Outside work, seeing my two sons grow into fine young men. Inside work, building the great management team I now have.

What has been the biggest change in the channel since you started working in it?

Seeing the growth of genuinely high-value-add resellers and distributors.

What three things could you not live without?

1. My laptop - it allows me to communicate and plan. 2. My running shoes - I struggle to keep fit, but really need to ensure I do). 3. Music, because it connects directly to your inner soul - and believe it or not I do have one.

What has been your most embarrassing moment so far?

During a deal I copied in the wrong person to an email. I don't think it cost anything but it was very embarrassing.

What do your family think you do all day?

Buy companies and have meetings (they are right).

What is your guilty pleasure?

Good wine.

What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?

Hire a team that had actually lived out in the real world and can make things happen.

Has 2015 been a good, bad or ugly year?

Good - a great team delivering outstanding results.

If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would you do?

Probably something in investment management or corporate finance. What major issues will the channel face in 2016? I think we will see a growing skills shortage as the economy continues to recover.
