Mike Chambers

Managing director, Comparex UK

What achievement are you most proud of?

Becoming a single parent earlier this year, and having three wonderful children who are clean, fed and watered.

What has been the biggest change in the channel since you started working in it?

Seeing brands come and go: Toshiba - remember the Equium?! Netware, AST, Dr Solomon, replaced by Asus, VMware, Lenovo, Veeam.

What three things could you not live without?

Vaping, my car, and my dishwasher - all self explanatory.

What has been your most embarrassing moment so far?

Bigging up a trip to the Nurburgring with my children, then not going over 60mph because I was too concerned about crashing, with my daughter in the back asking "are we there yet?".

What do your family think you do all day?

Make phone calls and orchestrate Dwarf Throwing contests.

Who is your ultimate celeb crush?

Katy Perry.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Wondering what Britain really would be like under Jeremy Corbyn.

What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?

Banning all other political parties.

Has 2015 been a good, bad or ugly year?

Good. The channel seems to be maturing, subscription-based software licensing and consumption-based payment has encouraged us to get businesses to use what they buy, and not leave customers feeling like Foie Gras geese.

If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would you do?

Produced "Cowspiracy".

What major issues will the channel face in 2016?

The day will come when hardware is no longer redundant, when upgrades and new systems are only software related. However, the biggest challenge for 2016 will be cloud outages.
