Managing director, AAG Systems
What achievement are you most proud of?
My two children, Harry and Madeleine.
What has been the biggest change in the channel since you started working in it?
The move away from hardware being the major revenue generator. The focus of the industry has shifted entirely to services which has seen the small to medium size break fix VARs moving to provide managed services.
What three things could you not live without?
1. Coconut Oil because I use it for everything. 2. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc because I love it. 3. My Thermomix because it does everything in the kitchen in half the time.
What has been your most embarrassing moment so far?
Turning up to a nightclub beach party in a grass skirt and bikini top when it wasn't fancy dress.
What do your family think you do all day?
Work too hard.
Who is your ultimate celeb crush?
James Nesbitt.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Lindor Chocolates by Lindt.
What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?
To attempt to prevent the demise of the NHS, returning it to the basic principles that allowed it to function efficiently with staff that have time to care.
Has 2015 been a good, bad or ugly year?
A good year. Happy children who enjoy school, holidays to remember and a developing business that I love working in with a great team and an exciting future.
If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would you do?
Probably have continued my previous investment banking career.
What major issues will the channel face in 2016?
The lack of skilled staff filling IT roles within businesses. As VARs become ‘the trusted partner' for their clients, the clients will rely more heavily on the skill set of the VAR due to the lack of skilled IT staff in business in general. This will feed up the chain through distribution and vendors. Advancements in wireless technology and the Internet of Things will be major factors. The ability to link everyday devices through the cloud will expand rapidly. One of the fundamental changes in the channel through 2016 will be billing. ITaaS, SaaS and the continuation of the move towards selling hardware/software with a wrap around service.
