Christian Curtis

UK sales director, Avnet Technology Solutions

What is your greatest career move to date?

They've all been good so far; ask me again when I am retired.

What is top of your bucket list?

I don't have a bucket list. I don't believe you should live your life by a list.

What has changed most since you started working in the channel?

The channel is in constant change, the greatest element being what constitutes "value" to the customer, partner and vendor. Value is what we strive for.

How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?

I don't think anyone knows the answer, given the world's economists can't agree on the potential effects. However, the channel has a history of dealing with anything thrown at it and Brexit won't be any different.

What is your least favourite task during the working day?

Probably sorting and prioritising the day's email inbox; I'd much rather be meeting a customer instead.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

Easy: a giraffe. I'd always have a good view at the football.

If you won the big one on EuroMillions, what would you do?

Look after my friends and family, invest a decent amount to secure a comfortable future and give the rest away to charity. You can't take it with you.

What is your worst habit?

There is way too much choice here. Probably constantly walking round the house/office/garden/airport/train on the phone.

How has 2016 been for you?

It has been great. All years are great years; life is too short.

If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career?

A travel writer or maybe even a restaurateur. What major issues will the channel face in 2017? The ongoing Brexit impact and the constant evolution of how our customers do business. All our businesses must constantly strive to understand our value in the market and how to deliver it. 2017 will be another exciting chapter.
