Richard Eglon
Marketing Director, Agilitas
What is your greatest career move to date?
Always the latest one!
What is top of your bucket list?
A British Lions tour in New Zealand
What has changed most since you started working in the channel? Why?
The people. As they are constantly changing to adapt to market demands and is one reason the channel is so resilient.
How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?
In the short term it has already had a big impact on those UK businesses trading in the Euro due to the changes in the exchange rate. Long term I think trade will continue to grow once we have weathered the storm.
What is your least favourite task during the working day?
Waiting for Windows to power up!
If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
A bird - as I would love to fly!
If you won the big one on Euromillions, what would you do?
Share it with my family and close friends.
What is your worst habit?
Buying watches!
How has 2016 been for you? Why?
2016 has been a transition year for Agilitas as we are now starting to harvest the rewards of the previous year's marketing activity, resulting in increased pipeline opportunities and sales from a number of new channel firms.
If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career, and why?
When I was younger it was a fighter pilot. Now it would have to be the owner of a chain of successful sea front restaurants due to my love of great food, wine and the sea.
What major issues will the channel face in 2017?
I think the main issue will be firms remaining relevant to the needs of the channel. Traditional vendors, distributors and resellers are going to find it challenging if they do not adapt and start planning for the end-user driven market of 2017 and beyond.
