Dave Stevinson
Managing director, Enta Group
What is your greatest career move to date?
Setting up Stevinson Capital to acquire innovative UK-based tech companies.
What is top of your bucket list?
To travel across Central and South America from Guatemela to Colombia and then from French Guinea to Ecuador.
What has changed most since you started working in the channel?
With my background in PC monitors, it must be the size of the computer monitor. I have enjoyed witnessing the transition from CRT monitors to LCD ones.
How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?
In my opinion it is more of a ‘Brexcuse'. I feel the effect will be fairly minimal - perhaps insignificant.
What is your least favourite task during the working day?
Completing my morning exercise regime.
If you were an animal, what would you be?
Definitely a dog - probably a labrador. As my neighbour said to me, there can be no better life than being a pampered pooch in Alderley Edge.
If you won the big one on EuroMillions, what would you do?
I would like to share the benefits with friends and colleagues to change their lives for the better. The rest I would invest in tech startups.
What is your worst habit?
Falling asleep during films and TV shows.
How has 2016 been for you?
A* for effort and B for achievement - 2016 has been a very challenging year with seeking resolution on legal cases, vendor challenges and headcount rationalisation.
If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career? Working in a bookshop has always appealed. However, I am not sure that I would be that productive.
What major issues will the channel face in 2017?
The challenge of Amazon in the consumer space for hardware fulfilment will not go away. The normality for Software-as-a-Service as opposed to outright purchase will stress the entire channels route to market as well as the associated business models.
