Andy Dow

Marketing director, Tech Data
What is top of your bucket list?
A river safari through Zambia, all booked for next year.
What has changed most since you started working in the channel?
I joined the channel in 1980 so one hell of a lot has changed but the overriding change is our maturity. We've grown from a rapid, tactically driven industry into a real managed services industry.
How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?
The shape and function of the channel will not change - due to the value of the pound, the price of the product will change and this will accelerate the move to the cloud.
What is your least favourite task during the working day?
Email.
If you were an animal, what would you be?
A dolphin. As an ex-surfer I'd love to just play in the sea and surf all day.
If you won the big one on EuroMillions, what would you do?
Enjoy myself, travel the world and buy fast cars. What is your worst habit? The list is too long to pick a winner.
How has 2016 been for you?
Every year has its highs and lows and this year has been no exception, but on balance the highs have been much greater than the lows. So in summary, it has been a blast.
If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career?
When I was younger I dreamt of being a professional moto cross rider but in hindsight your mistakes hurt, so now I think my dream job would be a travel photographer.
What major issues will the channel face in 2017?
We need to ride the economic uncertainty and all the instability that it brings the UK economy.
