Paul Bromelow

Group commercial director, APSU

What is your greatest career move to date?

Obviously, joining the team at APSU.

What is top of your bucket list?

Climbing El Capitan in Yosemite.

What has changed most since you started working in the channel?

The rapid trend towards ‘as-a-Service' offerings and the reduced attractiveness of margin from transactional resale models.

How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?

One of the immediate effects has been a cost increase from large overseas-based vendors. This can be balanced against the potential Forex benefit from overseas trading.

What is your least favourite task during the working day?

Explaining to my wife why I am back home late again.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

A tiger. Sometimes solitary, rare, self confident, an effective hunter and difficult to track.

If you won the big one on EuroMillions, what would you do?

Take a world trip and then set up as an angel investor and philanthropist.

What is your worst habit?

Helping others rather than myself.

How has 2016 been for you?

A year of great contrasts: business successes coupled with grief after the loss of my father.

If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career?

A pro-snowboarder or pro-surfer. Mountains and oceans are the most awesome places.

What major issues will the channel face in 2017?

A continuing transition towards managed services and associated pinch points for some VARs as they make the move, resulting in consolidation, mergers and acquisitions.
