      On borrowed time?

      Cybercrime has become a huge part of our economy and it is a topic that is getting more and more attention in the news media. The cybercriminal stories making headlines involve big companies such as British Airways and Marriott etc. However, smaller companies are just as susceptible to cyber- attacks. Often these attacks are much more damaging to smaller businesses, sometimes forcing them to shut down completely. One report from Verizon claims that 43% of email attacks target SMBs.

The channel has certainly become more competitive, transparent and efficient - all the key drivers of a maturing market.

How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?

Reduce the talent pool, create barriers to European sales and increase the silo effect of UK trade.

What is your least favourite task during the working day?

Staying on top of my email inbox.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

Probably a cat and roam around the place looking for some fun.

If you won the big one on EuroMillions, what would you do?

Donate it to cancer research and other worthwhile charities.

What is your worst habit?

Being tempted to stay out for a late drink on a Friday night by one Mr Hellawell.

How has 2016 been for you?

It has been an excellent year: record growth and entry into mainland Europe through the acquisition of Widget Investments.

If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career?

To manage Arsenal Football Club.

What major issues will the channel face in 2017?

The industry is maturing and with it will come more consolidation and maturing brands. Declining margins are raising the barriers for new entrants, ultimately reducing channel credit.
