Gary Haycock-West
Chief executive, Blue Cube Security
What is your greatest career move to date?
Moving into IT sales in 1988, developing my broader business skills, building a successful portfolio of deverse group of businesses.
What is top of your bucket list?
Flying a Spitfire.
What has changed most since you started working in the channel?
A reduction in reseller margins; why is anyone's guess.
How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?
General uncertainty; currency volatility for a while to come...
What is your least favourite task during the working day?
Reading long technical documents. If you were an animal, what would you be? A wolf, working as a team (pack) with no quarry (target) too big.
If you won the big one on EuroMillions, what would you do?
I would retire for a week, get bored and start again. What is your worst habit? Eating too much. How has 2016 been for you? Fantastic, building on our successes from 2015.
If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career?
A barrister. It's all about the winning, even when the odds are not always in your favour.
What major issues will the channel face in 2017?
Given the significant investments made by the private equity partners into the vendor space, creating a very crowded group of competitive solutions, how and who do the channel and therefore the resellers back/follow?
