What are the opportunities for the channel with the growth of AI?

Encryption, privacy, & data protection: a balancing act

This white paper examines the risk posed by encrypted threats; considers the business, privacy, and security implications of managing that risk; and presents constructive measures for balancing security needs with employee privacy rights. In the end, the best way for IT leadership to ensure the rights of the individual employee is to protect the organization from threats and attacks.

How do MSPs really feel the channel will shape up by 2020?

      On borrowed time?

Cybercrime has become a huge part of our economy and it is a topic that is getting more and more attention in the news media. The cybercriminal stories making headlines involve big companies such as British Airways and Marriott etc. However, smaller companies are just as susceptible to cyber- attacks. Often these attacks are much more damaging to smaller businesses, sometimes forcing them to shut down completely. One report from Verizon claims that 43% of email attacks target SMBs.

What is your greatest career move to date?
Joining Microsoft in 2013, experiencing the transformation under Satya, and the truly people centric approach of this company.

What is top of your bucket list?
Living and working abroad during my career. I have always fancied seeing a lot more of APAC, so you never know, I may end up there at some point.

What has changed most since you started working in the channel?
I've been around a long time, and seen many changes. However, none have been as significant as the transformation to cloud we are experiencing in this period. The channel is great at adapting, and I am confident the Microsoft channel will maximise the opportunity.

How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?
The response we have seen since the referendum has been one of resilience, and I fully expect that to continue.

What is your least favourite task during the working day?
I am very lucky, as nothing springs to mind, although I do have an exceptional assistant, so I am sure I am shielded from a lot of it. Spending more time with partners and customers would always be high on my wish list, if I could add more time to my day.

If you were an animal, what would you be?
I consulted my son on this, as he is a huge animal fan. Louis' advice was an eagle, because they are bold, brave and can fly. I can live with that - flying would be cool.

If you won the big one on EuroMillions, what would you do?
Not be here to answer the rest of this interview...

What is your worst habit?
I'm a bit OCD - ok, maybe more than a bit - so I guess that can be a little annoying at times.

How has 2016 been for you?
Transformational. We have seen our business constantly evolve, as a result of the work by our teams and our partners.

If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career?
A chef. I love cooking programmes and have many cookbooks. I am just rubbish at the practical. What major issues will the channel face in 2017? Continued evolution of their business to the cloud, and this will require increased partnering and investment in new skills.
