Mike Hockey

Company Co-Founder and Business Development Director

What is your greatest career move to date?

Deciding at 14 that I wanted to run my own business one day.

What is top of your bucket list?

A trip across America on a Harley is near the top but I always wanted to be a rock star really, so I guess rocking out to a large crowd is up there too.

What has changed most since you started working in the channel? Why?

There is more competition and it's harder to open doors because the market is more mature.

How do you think Brexit is going to affect the channel?

Large investment decisions will be delayed which will soften the market, although I don't think it will have a material impact to many in the channel.

What is your least favourite task during the working day?

Ploughing through the mountain of e-mail I get. E-mail should be banned!

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

I'm a Tiger….grrrr. Sorry that was my Gareth Cheeseman impression.

If you won the big one on Euromillions, what would you do?

Party hard, then carry on with real life.

What is your worst habit?

Obsessing over symmetry, style or form.

How has 2016 been for you? Why?

Fantastic! Roc was recognised in the Sunday Times Tech Track League as the fastest growing IT services business in the UK. We also welcomed many new customers and colleagues to Roc.

If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would be your dream career, and why?

I'd be a Rock star baby! I love playing the guitar and drums (not at the same time) and there is nothing like the feeling of blasting out a great tune.

What major issues will the channel face in 2017?

The challenge of continuously differentiating your offerings, making new customer connections and softening market conditions due to Brexit.
