Angelo Di Ventura
Chief sales & marketing officer, MTI
Tell us something most people won't know about you
I'm terrified of heights.
What has been your highlight of 2018 so far?
Professionally, the hard work, commitment and sheer bloody mindedness from the great people in our business being reward by being shortlisted for Security VAR of the Year. Personally, beating Spurs!
Who would play you in the film of your life?
The only cool bald bloke I can think of is Bruce Willis, although the jumping off tall buildings wouldn't work (see answer 1).
Which tech firm (other than your own!) do you most admire?
It has to be Softcat, for keeping it simple in a world where we all try and over-complicate or over-think things and for sticking to its core principles - always.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Eating an entire tub of Haagen Dazs - Pralines & Cream.
What is the most irritating tech buzzphrase of 2018?
‘Automation'. If you believe what you read the whole IT industry has been replaced with robots. Did anyone mention a skills shortage in our industry?
What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?
Undo Brexit. Can you imagine how great this country would be if we had focused all that energy over the last two years on fixing domestic issues?
What's the biggest untapped opportunity facing the channel?
It has to be the management and security of personal data.
What is your most treasured possession?
My wedding ring.
What do your family think you do all day?
Fix computers.
Who has been your mentor in business?
Three very different people have shaped my career: Geoff Wellen at Microwarehouse, Stuart Fenton at Insight and Scott Haddow now.
