I competed at the Isle of Man motorcycle races in the 1980s and 90s with a fastest lap average of 112mph.
What has been your highlight of 2018 so far?
Driving growth across the Pinacl Group and our real-world delivery of IoT solutions.
Who would play you in the film of your life?
Bradley Cooper. He's thoughtful and slightly left of centre.
Which tech firm (other than your own!) do you most admire?
Apple, for its continued marketing brilliance.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Love Island! I only watch it because it's on in the house…
What is the most irritating tech buzzphrase of 2018?
‘Deep dive'. Why not say ‘take a detailed look'?
What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?
Bring back national service; instil a good basis for any walk of life.
What's the biggest untapped opportunity facing the channel?
IoT. The way this will feed AI and automation has the greatest potential since the internet.
What is your most treasured possession?
My memories: the ones I've already built and the ones I'm making now.
What do your family think you do all day?
Hire and fire people (my daughter actually said this in school).
Who has been your mentor in business?
Ron Walsh, my first boss at Anixter. He showed great leadership and great humility.
