Tell us something most people won't know about you

I have a small collection of classic cars and motorbikes.

What has been your highlight of 2018 so far?

From a work perspective, it is our acquisition of Sentronex (London-based MSP).

Who would play you in the film of your life?

While we would all like to think it would be someone like Tom Cruise, I think it would be Colin Firth.

Which tech firm (other than your own!) do you most admire?

Our next acquisition, because it is our next acquisition.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

Cake. I like cake.

What is the most irritating tech buzzphrase of 2018?

‘Blockchain' - a technology that is seen by many that don't understand it as the answer to just about everything transactional but at the moment is just too complex.

What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?

Abolish caravans from the road.

What's the biggest untapped opportunity facing the channel?

Brexit. While it is also a big risk there must be some opportunity… somewhere.

What is your most treasured possession?

My 1961 series 1 Jaguar E Type roadster.

What do your family think you do all day?

My late mother-in-law used to tell everyone I counted paper clips.

Who has been your mentor in business?

Robert Dover - former chief exec of Jaguar Land Rover and Aston Martin, among others.
