Group sales director, Concorde Technology Group

Tell us something most people won't know about you

I am a season ticket holder at Manchester City and I once swam with great white sharks in Hout Bay, South Africa. I believe it stands me in good stead in day-to-day business!

What has been your highlight of 2018 so far?

I'm going to say all of it. We are enjoying our best-ever year at Concorde, so long may it continue plus the family holiday to Caribbean this year was most enjoyable.

Who would play you in the film of your life?

Probably Adam Sandler.

Which tech firm (other than your own!) do you most admire?

I have a great deal of admiration for Computacenter on how they have continually set the standard within the channel, but also ANS in Manchester on how they have re-engineered their business and stuck firmly with their strategy of working with strategic partners.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

I play too much golf.

What is the most irritating tech buzzphrase of 2018?

I am going to say ‘Internet of Things' - is that really the best we could do?

What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?

I would sort this Brexit fiasco out one way or another. We have a huge opportunity to forge our own way in the world and build a bright future for our children but our politicians are doing an exceptionally poor job at the moment.

What's the biggest untapped opportunity facing the channel?

I still feel with connectivity prices falling and bandwidth increasing, and with the amount of data we are producing continually increasing, I feel we have only scratched the surface with what we can achieve with the cloud and it still has a lot of unharnessed opportunity for businesses and managed service providers also.

What is your most treasured possession?

Well as I get a little older I am going to say my health is far too easy to ignore.

What do your family think you do all day?

My kids are pretty switched on, they don't miss too much.

Who has been your mentor in business?

I haven't had one of those - maybe I should look in to getting one?
