Tell us something most people won't know about you
I keep bees and never miss an episode of The Archers.
What has been your highlight of 2018 so far?
Becoming a Grandpa.
Who would play you in the film of your life?
Baloo.
Which tech firm (other than your own!) do you most admire?
Softcat. It has proved that if you do the basics well and consistently the world is your oyster. In 10 years it has gone from £60m to more than £1bn - not bad.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Take That.
What is the most irritating tech buzzphrase of 2018?
‘Digital detox' and ‘digital productivity'.
What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?
Stop Brexit.
What's the biggest untapped opportunity facing the channel?
There are so many, but probably the biggest is improving British business through innovation and increased effiency. Concentrate on delivering the future. It is difficult to run forwards when you are looking backwards.
What is your most treasured possession?
My life experiences and memories.
What do your family think you do all day?
Whatever I want, whenever I want.
Who has been your mentor in business?
Sir Peter Rigby, probably the most successful channel pioneer. I reported to him directly for six years and during this time learnt a lot of things that were good and as many that weren't. While he was difficult at times, my respect for him grew every day and I learnt quite quickly that not everyone is as honest or has the same integrity.
