Europe's largest independent managed print provider was acquired for £380m by HP on 1 August 2018 in a deal HP's CEO Dion Weisler has admitted was a defensive move. Speaking at the recent Canalys EMEA Channels Forum, Weisler was at pains to point out that HP will continue to run Apogee as an independent entity, claiming it will get no special treatment. The Maidstone-based outfit is thought to have around 11,000 managed print devices in the field, 20 per cent of which are HP branded. In its year to 31 December 2017, Apogee's revenues virtually doubled to £208.4m as a full-year contribution from Danwood fed into its numbers. Its headcount bulged from 424 to 1,125.
