Role: Founder and director, ICA

What does ICA specialise in?

The independent analysis of UC and UCCaaS solutions to support midmarket businesses to grow by applying business communication solutions that support the customers' aspirations.

How would you summarise your leadership style?

I have been described as a blend of visionary and affiliative. I am extremely proud of the business, the team that supports ICA and what we have achieved together. I would like to think I have been instrumental and influential to the women in the business that have grown in confidence and self belief and who continue to inspire me daily.

Covid and Brexit have... led to more women securing technology roles than ever before.

Do you feel the outlook for women in the industry has changed at all in the last four years?

Yes, I do think there have been some developments but I believe we need to do more. Covid and Brexit have impacted the demand for technical skills and this has led to more women securing technology roles than ever before. We have also seen the introduction of awards and events that promote these roles and the recognition of women in the channel however there is still a gender bias, gender pay gap and a lack of women in senior roles.

Name one thing companies in our sector should do differently to ensure they are attracting, retaining and promoting more female staff?

The sector should be aware of where to advertise, the use of language used that will encourage not dissuade females to apply and once a role is secured to offer support and listen to what women want to support them to progress in their role.
