What has been your business highlight of 2022?
We've been transitioning to a subscription-based business for some time now. Seeing the progress, pace and innovation my team has been working on really come together has been a real highlight of 2022 for me.
If you were ruler of your own country, what law would you introduce first?
Housing, food and internet for everyone - equality.
Which channel or tech leader (outside of your own company) has impressed you most in 2022?
Those who impress (or inspire) me most tend to come from the communities we serve. The one that stands out for me this year is Sarah Jensen, CDIO at Barts Health. Someone whose approach, work ethic and capability has brought about real digital transformation across North East London.
If you had a warning label, what would it say?
"Proceed with caution."
What was your first job?
I worked packing fruit and veg in my parents shop from the age of around 9 - it probably wouldn't be allowed in these days! It taught me some lifelong principles, however, that I'll live by forever.
What was the last book you read, and was it any good?
The Psychology of Money. It was a recommendation at the Block Book Club, and I would recommend to anyone wanting to make better decisions around money.
What's the most important lesson you've learned from another business leader or mentor?
There are very few decisions in life that cannot be undone. The very worst you can do is fail to make a decision at all.
Who would play you in a movie of your life?
I'd like to think George Clooney, but something tells me it would be more likely Ricky Gervais.
