What has been your business highlight of 2022?

Delivering the largest year in our trading history while being part of the transformation programme to become the most customer and employee-centric IT systems integrator in the UK. In the past 12 months we've invested time, money and effort into rethinking our company culture and values, to better reflect our family heritage and the business we want to be for our people and customers. We've updated our rewards packages, our values, and introduced employee-led groups on important subjects like D&I. It's given our business a huge boost and seeing this in action has been my highlight of 2022.

If you were ruler of your own country, what law would you introduce first?

Assuming the normal laws you'd expect to exist already do… I'd introduce free global travel and access to lifelong learning for all, with an obligation to experience a new country or explore a new subject at least every two years.

Which channel or tech leader (outside of your own company) has impressed you most in 2022?

The channel is littered with partners, friends and former colleagues. I enjoy following their progress and have been continually impressed by A-List regular Andy Wright, in his journey at XMA, including a well-deserved promotion to chief revenue officer earlier this year.

If you had a warning label, what would it say?

"Compete with caution."

What was your first job?

Paperboy… I always delivered.

What was the last book you read, and was it any good?

The Chimp Paradox - an enlightening mind management model for confidence, success and happiness.

What's the most important lesson you've learned from another business leader or mentor?

I'm fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with and alongside many great business leaders, including our founder, Sir Peter Rigby. He reinforces the importance of family values, communication, entrepreneurship, and hard work. With where we are today if I had to pick one I would go with strong communication because in my opinion its pivotal to delivering successful transformation - everyone has a voice.

Who would play you in a movie of your life?

George Clooney: an uncanny resemblance or maybe because he shares my passion for golf and has a beautiful wife.
