4. Bytes

Revenue: £1.4bn (+19%)

Staff: 1067

Over 60 per cent of Bytes' turnover in 2023 came from its Microsoft business, a steady bet for the company which saw substantial growth this year, even as it lost its number 3 spot to faster-growing rival WWT.

Unsurprising, then that the majority of business investment in 2023 went towards Azure migrations and deployments as well as Microsoft Copilot preparation.

This year, the Leatherhead-based VAR expects to grow its scale of operation organically in UK &Ireland and increase its customer numbers by approximately 10 per cent – comparable with last year.

To this end, former CEO Neil Murphy told CRN that he expects to grow staff count by around 13 per cent this year, following what he hailed as "the end of the great resignation.

This was, of course, prior to Murphy leaving the business following undisclosed trades in February, creating some uncertainty for Bytes.

At time of writing, former MD Sam Mudd is in the CEO seat on an interim basis.
