Managing director, QBS Software

What’s the most surprising lesson 2024 has taught you?

The most surprising lesson 2024 has taught me is the power of perspective. As QBS has grown, I’ve spent more time networking and realised that being a woman in tech—a male-dominated industry —is actually a strength. This shift has boosted my confidence, helping me speak up and contribute more meaningfully.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?

Can I be greedy and choose two? If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be Michelle Obama and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Michelle embodies leadership and women’s empowerment, inspiring others to embrace their potential. Ruth, a pioneer for gender equality, combined strength and grace in her fight for justice, reminding me to stand firm in my beliefs with dignity and determination. Together, they represent resilience, wisdom, and the power of women to drive change.

Which tech or channel figurehead has impressed you this year and why?

It is difficult to choose just one.

What technology trend do you think is overhyped and why?

AI is overhyped, often misused as a buzzword, but its potential is undeniable. The key lies in understanding and applying it effectively to create real value.

If you were stranded on a deserted island but could have one piece of tech with you, what would it be?

A satellite phone—because as much as I love adventure, my family and my cats would miss me!

What's your go-to productivity hack that keeps you on track during a busy day?

I use Blinkist to make reading more efficient by summarising books into key insights. This helps me stay informed and focused on the most important ideas, allowing me to use my time wisely and stay inspired throughout the day. Simple and effective!

If you had the time to learn one new skill, what would it be?

I’d love to learn how to sing so I can join in at QBS karaoke parties as we’ve got some amazing singers here - though keeping up with the dancers might be a stretch!
