What's the most surprising lesson 2024 has taught you so far?
As a leader you are weighed and measured when times are harder than usual and 2024 has been no exception for the wider channel.
Resilience and determination are crucial attributes for sales and marketing teams at a time like this and the lesson I learnt is a deeper belief in my team’s ability to find that extra motivation from within themselves to persist, go harder and not to give up. It’s been a proud moment to see that new inner found strength.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?
Robin Williams. Incredible actor and comedian and was well known for being the life of the party with his quick wit and improvisational skills. I’d also time the dinner to be on my 50th in a couple of years’ time.
Which tech or channel figurehead has impressed you the most this year, and why?
Roland Busch, Siemens. The direction and vision Roland has for Siemens when he describes the industrial metaverse is going to open a new world to the IT channel from the world of IIOT.
What technology trend do you think is being overhyped, and why?
A little far from our channel world, literally. Space tourism. It’s been a possibility for some years now, but still not an option for the masses. I would love one day to see the world from space. Come Elon, Richard B and Jeff, chop chop.
If you were stranded on a deserted island but could have one piece of tech with you, what would it be?
My Technic 1210’s! I’m still obsessed with music and it gets you through all situations in life! As Danny Tenaglia once said, ‘Music is the answer’
What's your go-to productivity hack that keeps you on track during a busy day?
My little black book. I’ve kept one since I joined the channel in the mid 90’s. I plan my day before I start. It helps me manage the volumes of activities by prioritizing my important tasks and equally what tasks I shouldn’t do!
If you had the time to learn one new skill, what would it be?
Piano, I’m always in awe when I see talented folk playing in public drawing and entertaining the crowds. Pure magic!
