What's the most surprising lesson 2024 has taught you so far?

Expect the unexpected.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?

My great grandparents – I’m sure it would be fascinating.

Which tech or channel figurehead has impressed you the most this year, and why?

Satya Nadella. His ability to move ahead of the curve and explain things in their simplest form. His latest AI Tour Keynote is worth a watch.

What technology trend do you think is being overhyped, and why?

The obvious answer is AI and in some ways it’s true – just look at the stock prices of those who are championing AI as part of their offering vs those who haven’t. However, I think much of the hype is justified and once things settle AI will become pervasive and a part of everything we do. There will be some very general and visible applications with the likes of Copilot and many specific and bespoke use cases, some of which may fly further under the radar.

If you were stranded on a deserted island but could have one piece of tech with you, what would it be?

My phone – with an unlimited satellite internet connection!

What's your go-to productivity hack that keeps you on track during a busy day?

Copilot ‘Summarise’ button.

If you had the time to learn one new skill, what would it be?

DJing.
