Chris Jones
Head of public sector, Trustmarque
What has been your personal highlight of 2025?
Watching the incredible Public Sector team at Trustmarque go from strength to strength. We work as partners across our Public Sector client base and we have such deep relationships - it is a joy to be part of the team.
Which tech figurehead has impressed you the most this year, and why?
Peter Kyle, who was the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology until just recently. He has put digital services back at the heart of UK Government and outlined an exciting vision for UK Public Services. This commitment sets the north star for both Public and Private sector to drive transformative services for UK society.
What was your first job in the channel?
Trustmarque is my first job in the channel and I’m loving it.
Prior to this I worked 18 years across system integrators; I have really enjoyed developing new knowledge; but also sharing my experiences to develop the team.
What’s your personal sustainability commitment for 2026?
I work with Stuart Daley (our COO) to drive social value across Public Sector. I view this a privileged position as we get to lead initiatives that make a difference to UK society. My commitment is we will be even bigger and bolder not just in sustainability but across under-privileged groups, local communities, the Forces and Justice services.
As for my personal commitment, my family and I attend regular beach clean-ups – we will continue to do this. It’s a great opportunity for me to explain to my children the importance of looking after the earth.
What’s one hidden talent or skill your colleagues wouldn’t suspect you have?
It’s definitely not a secret talent but balancing family (wife and two kids aged 8 and 6), running our Public Sector division and being there for my wider family - fitting this into 24 hours in a day is a skill that challenges me every day. I’m sure a lot of readers will associate with this – getting the balance right is a skill I am working on!
What’s your advice for new graduates/apprentices in the channel, in three words?
Always be learning.
What was your first day in your current role like?
There were two things going on:
A – I was really excited to get started and meet the team. Everyone was so welcoming!
B – I joined on 3 January 2024. The night before starting I bravely demonstrated to my 8 year old in our kitchen how to use her new skateboard she had for Christmas. Having never done it before I went 6 ft in the air, flew into the wall and crash landed on the stone floor. It was much to my daughter’s amusement. So I also spent the first day in agony!
Who has been the most influential figure in your career so far?
After 5 years together at NTT DATA, when the Whatsapp appeared that just said ‘come to Trustmarque’ I didn’t give it a second thought. Simon Williams, our Trustmarque CEO, has not only transformed NTT DATA but we are now on an incredible journey here at Trustmarque. Simon is a mentor I look up to – we are in good hands!
