Sarah Geary

CCO, Distology

What has been your personal highlight of 2025?

Watching the team grow and develop, finding my feet in a new role that really stretches me and winning an incredible new vendor!

Which tech figurehead has impressed you the most this year, and why?

Hayley Mooney – I am always impressed by people who can manage their corporate persona whilst staying authentic. The scale and demands of that role never ceases to amaze me and although I met Hayley a long time ago, she is still the same approachable, open person (now with an impressive and inspiring career!)

What was your first job in the channel?

I joined a small specialist Altiris (who remembers that!) Disti as a temp. I chased invoices, did email marketing, managed the office and helped with vendor management. What a time!

What’s your personal sustainability commitment for 2026?

I feel like I should have a profound comment here, but I am afraid I don’t!

What’s one hidden talent or skill your colleagues wouldn’t suspect you have?

I pride myself of my ability to order food for a table and to make the perfect roast potato. Can you tell I like food?

What’s your advice for new graduates/apprentices in the channel, in three words?

Always be curious.

What was your first day in your current role like?

Inspiring and overwhelming.

Who has been the most influential figure in your career so far?

At a time when I was struggling with confidence following a big move to my first vendor role, Darren Thomson gave my advice that has stayed with me to this day. At a time when I was being told I had to ‘act a certain way’ to be taken seriously, Darren helped me understand that being empathetic and personable is a strength not a weakness. Thank you Darren!
