36. Select Technology Group

Revenue: £114m

Select Technology Group continues to stand out as one of the UK’s leading Apple Premium Resellers, blending a strong presence in consumer retail with a growing footprint in the B2B and corporate IT sectors. The UK business, officially known as Select Technology Sales and Distribution (UK) Ltd, reported revenues of £114m for the year ending 30 September 2023, plateauing from the previous year.

The directors described the performance as “reasonable” given the wider macroeconomic headwinds, including the UK’s inflationary environment, rising energy prices, and a broader slowdown in tech sector investment. Despite this, the board said sales had held up well, thanks in part to continued customer demand and a push around new product launches and attach sales of third-party accessories.

Operating in what it describes as a “highly competitive” retail and corporate IT space, Select’s strategy revolves around driving profitability through better margin management, product alignment, and increased share of wallet from both new and existing customers. The leadership team is doubling down on key performance indicators such as turnover, gross and operating profit, and cash retention to steer growth. According to the board, Select is now positioned to benefit from a “maturing” market environment and sees long-term opportunities despite short-term bumps in the road.

The business, a wholly owned subsidiary of Select Technology Sales and Distribution Group Limited, headquartered in Ireland, continues to refine its risk and capital management framework to address supply chain shifts, currency fluctuations, and technological change. With online sales continuing to eat into traditional high street revenue, the company’s hybrid retail/B2B model appears designed to weather further disruption while delivering long-term value for stakeholders.
