44. Node4
Revenue: £103.6m
Node4 delivered double-digit revenue growth in its most recent financial year, with turnover rising to £103.6m in the 12 months to 31 March 2024 — up from £93.7m the previous year. Gross profit also climbed to £54.7m, although operating profit dipped to £8.1m from £12.0m the year prior, reflecting ongoing investment in service platforms, infrastructure and staff.
Founded on the principle of owning and operating its own infrastructure, Node4 has built a comprehensive end-to-end IT services portfolio designed to support the mission-critical systems of UK mid-market organisations. Its offering spans cloud, colocation, connectivity, collaboration, business continuity, cyber security and managed ERP services, including implementation and support for Microsoft Dynamics, Business Central and Dynamics NAV.
Node4 owns and manages high-specification data centres in Derby, Leeds and Northampton, offering a combined capacity of around 1,500 racks. These facilities meet ISO 27001 standards, support PCI compliance and UK government ‘Official’ security requirements, and deliver energy efficiency ratings as high as PUE 1.2. Node4’s cloud infrastructure — built with Cisco, NetApp and VMware and accredited under the CMSP programme — underpins many of the firm’s managed services, including private and hybrid cloud environments.
Connectivity is another core pillar, with Node4 operating a national DWDM network linking data centres and Points of Presence in Manchester and London. The company is also an internet service provider, offering a variety of access methods including ethernet, broadband and 4G M2M, which integrate into its SDN-enabled network for seamless delivery of SIP, voice, cloud and data services.
Recent growth has also been driven by a strategic acquisition strategy, which has seen Node4’s parent company acquire nine businesses since 2013. These include Microsoft specialists risual (July 2022), Tisski (December 2022) and cyber consultancy 3-2-4 IT (June 2023). The businesses — along with TNP, acquired in 2021 — are being integrated into Node4 Limited to streamline operations, while retaining their individual service lines. TNP alone supports over 500 customers and brings deep capability around Dynamics 365 Business Central, Power Apps and Power BI.
Node4 has continued to expand its managed services around Azure and DevOps and has invested in tooling such as ServiceNow and ScienceLogic to support increasing customer demand. The company’s strategy remains focused on year-on-year organic growth, leveraging its owned infrastructure and full-stack service portfolio to capitalise on increasing demand for outsourced IT and cloud-led transformation across the UK.
The reseller also made several changes to its executive bench, most recently appointing Phil Alton as director of Node4 Channel, the company’s channel-focused division.
In May 2024, the MSP named Hannah Birch as group MD and Paul Bryce as chief experience officer (CXO).
A month later, Chris Woodhouse became chairman of the board.
In December, Richard Moseley became CEO, replacing Andy Gilbert who took on the role of president and board member.
