77. SoftwareONE
Revenue: £59.3m
SoftwareOne’s UK arm notched a 28 per cent revenue rise in FY23, with turnover surging to £59.3m and operating profit growing by a similar margin to £8.8m. The reseller – which provides software procurement, agreement management and technical services to companies of all sizes – said it saw strong demand for its cloud offerings and continued expansion of its services portfolio, including SAM, managed cloud and technical consulting.
The UK business boasts partnerships with over 7,500 software publishers, including Microsoft, Adobe, VMware, and Oracle. While its legacy lies in licensing, the firm is increasingly positioning itself as a consultative partner, helping customers optimise spend and navigate a fragmented multi-vendor world. Its Services and Publisher Diversity Indices are key metrics in that shift, alongside headcount – which grew by more than 10 per cent last year to 311 following acquisitions and organic expansion.
The company is part of the SoftwareOne Group, a Switzerland-headquartered global player with 120 subsidiaries and an increasingly services-led strategy. Globally, SoftwareOne’s FY24 revenue ticked up just 2.9 per cent amid macroeconomic headwinds and go-to-market (GTM) execution issues, particularly in the UK during H2. However, the firm says it's already seeing signs of renewed pipeline activity after implementing a cost reduction programme and simplifying its regional structures.
SoftwareOne’s much-anticipated merger with Oslo-based Crayon – due to complete in June 2025 – will create a licensing and services juggernaut with CHF 1.6bn in revenues and over 13,000 staff. The UK arm is expected to benefit from the combined entity’s expanded reach, broader portfolio, and deeper publisher relationships. Group CEO Raphael Erb described the merger as a “next chapter” for the business, while outgoing CFO Rodolfo Savitzky said the firm is well-positioned to “restore customer centricity and agility” in the months ahead.
