86. European Electronique

Revenue: £50.3m

European Electronique (EE) has built its name in the public sector as a trusted provider of secure, scalable IT infrastructure, with particular strength in networking, hybrid cloud and cyber security. Its managed services arm, backed by 24/7 NOC support, continues to be a key growth engine, particularly in light of the PSTN and ISDN switch-off.

While revenue dipped in FY23 due to delayed tenders and extended lead times on networking kit, the business maintained a high level of engagement across its core verticals – notably HE, local government and education trusts. Projects delayed due to building or equipment setbacks have since picked up pace, with the business predicting a strong pipeline going into FY24. Notable public sector wins during the year included Northumbria University, Angus Council, and multi-school projects with Greenwell Academies Trust, Activate Learning, and John Taylor Multi-Academy Trust.

The company also reinvested heavily in its people and partnerships. A new Public Sector Sales Director and Head of Sales joined in FY23, along with a strengthened salesforce and expanded professional services team, including additional security consultants. EE deepened relationships with key partners – including HPE/Aruba and Fortinet – while broadening its vendor base to include Juniper Networks, Hubstar and EfficientIP. Investment in training and certification has underpinned the firm’s ongoing specialisation in network security and hybrid cloud, particularly through its Freedom 2 private cloud offering, Azure services, and on-premise infrastructure.

Framework success remains a cornerstone of EE’s public sector strategy. The firm retained its place on a raft of key frameworks – including NEUPC HENSS2, CCS TEAS 2, and G-Cloud XIII – and added CCS Cloud Compute 2 RM6292 to the roster. These wins, paired with renewed ISO14001, ISO9001 and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications, and a push toward Crest accreditation, signal a business focused on sustainable, secure growth.

With multi-year contracts now in motion and fresh tender success fuelling its FY24 momentum, EE is aiming for a return to top-line growth and an uptick in high-margin services revenue.
