87. Roc Technologies

Revenue: £50.3m

Roc Technologies continues to carve out its niche in delivering secure, end-to-end transformation services to customers operating in data-sensitive environments. The Newbury-based IT services provider ended its March 2023 financial year with EBITDA growth to £5.01m, despite a slight drop in revenue to £50.3m and an operating loss of £2.5m—numbers it attributes to strategic investment and continued macroeconomic turbulence.

Its strength in delivering secure solutions across cloud, connectivity, collaboration, data, and digital transformation has earned Roc both strong customer retention and a raft of new contract wins—particularly off the back of a growing partnership with a key vendor. While the vendor remains unnamed, Roc highlights this relationship as a significant driver of growth and sector penetration in the last 18 months.

The business remains focused on its purpose to “make sustainable change easy,” offering three core services: transformation (spanning integration and software deployment), Resourcing (providing skilled architects and PMs), and engineering (covering maintenance and infrastructure services for both private and high-security clients, including those in aviation).

Roc also underwent a boardroom shakeup in September 2023, with CEO Ian Furness stepping down after three years at the helm. Executive Chairman Simon Derry is currently steering the ship on an interim basis, with the company continuing to trade in line with a three-year strategic plan developed during a refinancing agreement earlier in 2023.

Despite market pressures, Roc’s ability to maintain strong cash conversion and expand its core Microsoft capabilities positions it for a solid run at growth in FY24 and beyond.
