89. Solid Solutions
Revenue: £49.5m
TriMech Group may span multiple brands and regions, but in the UK, it’s the Solid Solutions name that continues to anchor its presence among product design and engineering firms. The VAR has carved out a dominant position in the SOLIDWORKS market, supporting more than 15,000 customers across the UK and beyond with a mix of software sales, technical consultancy, training and best-in-class support delivered by a highly certified engineering team.
It’s been another acquisitive year for the group, which added GRM Consulting, Solid People, and 3DPrintUK to its portfolio in 2023. Those additions boosted capabilities in areas such as CAD recruitment and design optimisation, and enhanced its additive manufacturing credentials through one of the UK’s leading 3D printing bureaus. The acquisition of Sweden’s 3DVerkstan Nordic AB (along with its Danish offshoot) also broadened the group’s 3D printer sales footprint across the Nordics, marking a significant step in its European growth strategy.
The group’s revenues jumped to £99m in 2023 – up from £49.5m the previous year thanks to the Solid Solutions buyout – although it booked a pre-tax loss of £3.8. To keep things fair, we therefore estimate Solid’s share of the pie at roughly the same level as its prior year revenue.
