'Sustainability will transform the industry over the next 10 years', Softcat duo claim
Softcat's Alastair Wynn and John Gladstone interview each other for CRN Tech Impact
Sustainability will play a bigger role in transforming the IT channel over the next decade than digital or the rise of new technologies, Softcat's Alastair Wynn and John Gladstone agreed as they interviewed each other for CRN Tech Impact.
Wynn and Gladstone have been at the centre of a sustainability push for Softcat that has seen it set a net zero supply chain 2040 target, have its goals validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, and launch its own customer sustainability platform in the form of ‘Enexo'.
As a part of CRN's Tech Impact campaign, the duo interviewed each other about Softcat's internal strategy, the industry's circularity deficit and Enexo.

"For me, sustainability is the element that's going to transform this industry most over the course of the next 10-20 years," Softcat business development director Wynn said.
"People talk about digital and new technologies. But sustainability as a priority for this planet, for future generations, is going to be something that's going to transform the way in which we operate, which products we select, which partners we select, how we operate. It's going to transform the world that we live in - what an exciting place to be."
In the video interview above, Wynn and Softcat sustainability lead Gladstone discuss:
- How to embark on tackling sustainability, including starting with the basics and mirroring the UN's sustainability goals
- How Softcat will achieve its 2040 net zero supply chain target in line with science-based targets
- How the channel is failing when it comes to circular, and what actions vendors, distributors and resellers should take to fix this
- How the convergence of sustainability and technology prompted Softcat to launch Enexo and how it is now taking the platform to its 10,000 customers
