Cybit names James Hunnybourne executive chairman
The MSP teases a series of leadership changes following the appointment
Technology solutions provider Cybit has welcomed channel vet James Hunnybourne as its new executive chairman.
Hunnybourne brings 25 years of experience in the channel, as he started his journey in 2000 as a solution manager for IBM, working his way to up to become services lead eight years later.
He stayed at the company for 12 years before joining Logicalis UK, where he worked as a service sales manager before levelling up to service sales director.
He then moved to Softcat in 2016 as solution sales manager and rose to head of technology services and solutions within three years.
In 2021, he left the reseller to join cloud specialist and automation service provider Ultima Business Solutions as cloud solutions director before stepping up to CRO less than a year later.
His initial priority as Cybit’s exec chairman will be to boost the company’s AI, cloud, big data and cyber abilities to position the MSP as “the de facto leader in technology solutions that solve complex issues to drive business and societal benefits.”
Hunnybourne took to LinkedIn to announce his new position.
“Cybit was a totally new name to me when I first encountered them,” he wrote.
“Over the past five months I’ve got to know them well and I’m pleased to say that everything I saw in the business that excited me is still exciting me now.
“In my opinion Cybit is an exceptional data, security and managed services business full of some fantastic people and devoted long-term clients.
“Moving forward I will be working with them and their leadership team to help everyone realise what a truly special business they have.”
The company also teased a series of new executive hires following the exec chairman’s arrival, which “will take place imminently as Hunnybourne executes on his leadership strategy for Cybit.”
Hunnybourne is the second high-level appointment for the company in 2025, following Ewa Johnson’s onboarding as chief marketing officer in January.
