Econocom buys a majority stake in Avanzia to propel Spanish AV sector
The acquisition brings the company’s turnover in AV to €60m in the region
Econocom Spain has purchased a majority stake in engineering and AV company Avanzia to boost its regional activities in the sector.
Avanzia integrates audiovisual projects, museography, and immersive experiences across 25 countries.
The purchase is expected to generate €60m (£51.78m) in turnover for the VAR’ Spanish AV sector in FY25.
The investment brings 50 employees to the organisation’s team, which already employs 1,800 people in the region, and produces €480m in revenue.
Econocom now counts 250 AV specialists and engineers, as well as centres of excellence across Madrid and the Asturias region, from where it supports installations in 95 countries.
Both Jaime Fernández de Santaella, CEO of Avanzia, and Raúl Gargallo, CTO, will remain at the head of the entity to oversee the integration into Econocom Spain and to explore new growth paths.
"Avanzia's creative and technical capabilities perfectly complement Econocom’s vision and commitment to delivering immersive, sustainable and high-reach digital experiences to our Spanish and global customers,” said Carlos Pérez-Herce, country manager at Econocom Spain.
De Santaella added: "From today, our clients can benefit not only from unique audiovisual solutions and opportunities for scale, but also access any service related to their digital transformation; from the financing of strategic assets to the evolution of the workplace and the deployment of infrastructures.”
The new incorporation will support One Econocom, the reseller’s strategy for 2028, which aims to increase the group’s revenue to €4bn through organic and inorganic evolution.
As part of this plan, the firm also will look to expand its capabilities in workplace, infrastructure, strategic assets, and AV.
In a recent interview with CRN, Israel Garcia, Econocom’s UKI chief, explained that Spain represents one of Econocom’s most significant markets after France.
This is the firm’s fourth acquisition in the country, following the buyouts of Garcia’s company, Altabox, in 2018, as well as Ermestel in 2012, and Semic SA in 2022.
This new move comes just three days after the reseller acquired 70 per cent of German ProAV and digital signage provider ICT AG.
Econocom UK ranks number 93 on CRN’s Top VARs 2025 list.
