‘The European market needs Misco’: Misco comes back to the Netherlands with Care4ICT buyout
Misco reestablishes European operational presence after past routs
Misco has acquired Dutch IT services provider Care4ICT to establish an operational presence in the Netherlands and across mainland Europe.
The acquisition of Care4ICT is part of Misco’s strategy to accelerate its growth in Europe by establishing a fully operational local team in the Netherlands.
With this new move, Misco will intend to better serve its European customers with localised expertise.
“Having launched a trading subsidiary in the Netherlands at the beginning of 2023, this acquisition was the next step for our European growth plan,” said Adam Muir, MD of Misco Technologies.
As part of this rebranding, a new website, www.miscodirect.nl, has been launched to reflect the unified brand identity.
David van den Bosch, the prior co-owner of Care4ICT, will lead the combined business under the new Misco brand.
“We welcome David and the team to the Misco family, and we are excited about the opportunities this acquisition presents for our customers and our business as a whole,” added Muir.
CRN met with van den Bosch in Amsterdam to discuss the ins and outs of the acquisition.
“I believe that the Dutch and the European markets need the brand Misco,” said van den Bosch.
“We need to focus first on rebranding the business.”
Misco will also onboard the Care4ICT team, according to the new MD.
“Everybody who has worked for Care4ICT will join the Misco brand.”
The company also wants to expand the team, mostly in sales.
The firm also has plans said it plans to invest “in its people and enhance its service offerings.”
But the acquisition also marks van den Bosch come back to Misco.
He worked at the VAR from 2012 to 2016, starting as small business account manager, stepping up to account manager for SMBs, before eventually becoming corporate account manager.
After his departure, he worked for different IT companies over the span of two years before becoming the director of Care4ICT.
Van den Bosche adds that with this new acquisition, Misco aims to reach over £100m in FY25.
“They closed last year at around £79m, and this year, by coming here, they're aiming at over £100m.”
The acquisition completed on 30 December 2024.
This marks Misco’s European comeback after a series of setbacks starting in 2017.
Financial struggles, cash flow problems, operational inefficiencies, as well as a £5m unpaid VAT bill, led Misco UK to be sold off to Hilco Capital in March 2017.
The buyout was not the magic bullet needed and the British firm went into administration in October of the same year, which led to the loss of over 300 jobs.
The organisation also went bankrupt in Sweden in 2017 and stopped its operations in Italy and Spain in 2018.
Misco Netherlands branch was the only one to survive, merging with Misco Solutions in 2017, before being acquired by Computacenter in 2018.
In 2019, the VAR returned to the UK after UK Computer Group acquired the naming rights to the organisation.
