Onecom deepens UK footprint with Gradwell buyout
The marks the company’s thirteenth acquisition in five years
LDC-backed Onecom has acquired Gradwell Communications to enhance its communications and hosted voice solutions portfolio.
This buyout will also strengthen Onecom’s UK geographic reach thanks to Gradwell’s Bath and Leeds offices, as well as the company’s nationwide customer base.
Gradwell Communications is a cloud technology company, whose solution portfolio comprises its own business-hosted voice system (Wave) and SIP network, as well as unified communications solutions leveraging 3CX and Microsoft Teams, along with connectivity.
"The acquisition of Gradwell Communications is highly complementary to our ongoing expansion and diversification strategy,” said Darren Ridge, CEO of Onecom.
“Gradwell’s reputation for delivering exceptional communication and hosted voice solutions, and customer service aligns perfectly with our ethos and strong customer-centric approach."
“The inclusion of Gradwell into the Onecom family extends our service offerings to our direct customers and through Onecom Partners and underpins our commitment to deliver comprehensive communication solutions across the UK."
Jamie Ward, CEO of Gradwell, added: "We’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve built at Gradwell, and joining forces with Onecom marks an exciting new chapter.
“This acquisition creates new opportunities to deliver even greater value and service to our customers, and we’re looking forward to what we can achieve together."
Onecom currently hires more than 700 people in offices around the country and counts partners such as Vodafone, Zoom, Gamma, Five9, Microsoft, Google, HPE Aruba and ThreatDown.
This represents the organisation’s thirteenth buyout since it secured a £100m funding package from mid-market private equity firm LDC in 2019, as well as credit funds managed by an affiliate of Ares Management Corporation.
In January this year, Onecom secured a £100m multi-year refinancing of its loan facility from Ares Capital.
Since 2020, the company has acquired Daly Systems, Excalibur Communications, On-Site Connect Limited, IMS Technology, Solution IP, Russell Telecom, 9 Retail, 9 Partners, Nice Network, IP Office Ltd, Olive Communications, and Glamorgan Telecom Group.
The unified comms and contact-centre-as-a-service provider ranks number 28 in CRN’s Top VAR’s 2025 list.
