Rigby Group nears £4bn in FY25 results

The group is “not satisfied” with the profitability of SCC UK

The Rigby Group has reported year-on-year growth in its FY25 financial results, driven by the development of SCC.

Revenue reached £3.79bn, a three per cent increase from £3.69bn the year prior.

SCC once again accounted for most of the company’s earnings, reaching £3.52bn, a two per cent rise from £3.44bn the previous year.

The unit was then followed by airports (£133.3m), Rigby Group Technology Investments (£100.5m), hotels (£18.11m), central operations (£16.46m), and real estate (£3.97m).

Continental Europe was the organisation’s largest revenue contributor, standing at £2.59bn, way ahead of the UK at £1.1bn.

The rest of the world stood at £102.91m.

Despite SCC revenue being on the up, James Rigby, SCC’s EMEA CEO, said he was “not satisfied” by the level of profitability of the firm’s UK arm.

“Over the last couple of years, the UK business has suffered from margin erosion from its private cloud platform which is the principal reason for lower performance,” he explained.

“We are encouraged by the results of initiatives to re-establish performance including the launch of a new, modernised private cloud platform, the success of new public cloud managed services offerings, and investment in our sales capacity to drive increased product re-sell margins.”

The division was also reportedly negatively impacted by deferred infrastructure decisions as well as Windows 11 delays, and is predicted to keep being influenced by what Rigby referred to as the situation in the US and domestic challenges in the UK economy.

On the other hand, he explained that the firm remains optimistic thanks to its investments, and its continued improvement in the UK and Europe.

The group’s EBITDA surged 36 per cent to £95.2m, compared to £70m in FY24.

Operating profit also soared 45 per cent, from £44.4m to £64.4m.

Results were also boosted by the sale of SCC France’s joint venture recycling activity in favour of establishing an in-house solution for customers.

In the UK, SCC sold two datacentres to infrastructure provider Pulsant.

Last month, the Rigby Group also sold 100 per cent of its airport unit to Luna Investment BIDCO, a subsidiary of Intermediate Capital Group (ICG), which will impact FY26 results.

The disposal of this business led to the departure of 1,000 employees, leaving the company with a headcount of 8,000.

Sir Peter Rigby, the group’s founder and chairman, highlighted that the company is also pursuing its £300m technology investment programme to accelerate acquisitions and develop services such as AI, public and private cloud, and cybersecurity.

“SCC remains the cornerstone of our business, driving innovation across AI, public and private cloud, and cybersecurity, and enabling clients to transform at pace,” he said.

Since the company’s tech investment, SCC has purchased firms like Grupo Omega, Vohkus, Nimble, and Resonate over the last 12 months.
