Capita wins £17m extension with Staffordshire County Council

The three-year renewal forms part of a two-decade relationship

Capita has secured a new three-year term for its Entrust Support Services joint venture with Staffordshire County Council.

The extension, valued at £17m, will run from April this year to March 2029 and forms part of the existing 20-year contract between Entrust and the council.

Through Entrust, the firm reportedly already provides compliance and assurance services across 95 schools in Staffordshire, supporting more than 23,000 students to help the local authority meet its statutory obligations.

Under the extended arrangement, Capita will continue to deliver operational and support services across the county’s education system.

“We are pleased that Staffordshire County Council has chosen to extend its partnership with Entrust,” said Andrew Conroy, property director at Capita.

“Our longstanding collaboration reflects the quality of the services delivered and our shared commitment to supporting the county’s schools, communities and public buildings.

“We look forward to continuing to apply our expertise and technology to help improve outcomes across Staffordshire.”

Councillor Sean Bagguley, cabinet member for finance and resources at Staffordshire County Council, added: “The continued partnership with Capita ensures the provision, through Entrust, of ongoing support for the education system in the county and beyond.

“It includes successful provision of high-quality public buildings and learning facilities as well as support for teaching and administration in schools and wider curriculum activities like outdoor education and music.”

This announcement follows a series of public sector deals made by Capita over the past 12 months.

Four weeks ago, the organisation landed a £370m contract to provide back-office services across the Department for Work and Pensions, the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

In January, it secured a £9m arrangement with Kent County Council to deliver contact centre services supporting 1.6 million residents.

In November, the company agreed a three-year renewal with Hart District Council, Havant Borough Council, South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council.

In May, its Local Public Service (LPS) unit signed a four-year mandate with SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of ScottishPower.

It also comes shortly after Capita exited its private contact centre division for £1, as it plans to focus on its core public service and pension solutions businesses.
